Double Stitch by Bedsure Organic Cotton Sheet Set: Deep Analysis

Reviewed September 2026 · Certifications re-checked October 2026

82

Non-Toxic Score

82/100 · Recommended

Recommended. These are organic cotton sateen sheets with a GOTS certificate we could confirm in GOTS’s own database. The weave drapes smoothly without a wrinkle-free finish, the treatment where formaldehyde is used in cotton textiles. The trade-offs are small and worth knowing: a young organic line with few reviews so far, a fiber grade the brand doesn’t name, and an OEKO-TEX claim we couldn’t confirm because the certificate number isn’t published.

Best for

Certified organic cotton sheets with a soft sateen feel, at a lower price than legacy organic bedding brands.

Not ideal for

Sleepers who prefer crisp percale, or anyone who wants a named premium fiber such as Supima or Egyptian cotton.

Certifications, checked

GOTS: confirmed

Bedshe International Co., Ltd., the company behind Bedsure, holds GOTS license GOTS-22721. The certifier is Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, and the certificate is valid through April 26, 2027. Its scope includes organic cotton bed linen and bed sheets. We checked it in the GOTS certified suppliers database on October 23, 2026. The certificate covers the company, so it doesn’t list individual products.

OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100: claimed, not confirmed

The brand states the sheets are OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified. OEKO-TEX certificates are checked by certificate number, and the brand doesn’t publish one, so we couldn’t confirm it. If your package label shows the number, you can check it with OEKO-TEX’s Label Check.

What GOTS means: at least 95% certified organic fiber for the “organic” label grade, no formaldehyde in the product criteria, and independent certification that includes on-site inspection and product testing (GOTS technical requirements).

What’s in it

100% long-staple organic cotton

Grown and made in India, and covered by the GOTS certificate above. The brand calls it long-staple but doesn’t name a grade such as Supima or Egyptian. GOTS certifies organic growing and processing, not fiber length.

300-thread-count sateen weave

A 4-over-1 weave that drapes smoothly on its own. The listing makes no wrinkle-free or easy-care claim.

Garment-washed finish

Washed after sewing so the sheets feel soft from the first night. We have no independent test of processing residues for individual batches.

Construction

Double-stitched edges at stress points, reinforced elastic corner straps and a 16-inch deep pocket. The set includes a fitted sheet, a flat sheet and two 20 x 30 inch pillowcases.

What the evidence says

Wrinkle-resistant finishes are where formaldehyde shows up

A 2010 U.S. Government Accountability Office report found formaldehyde can be used to make some clothing wrinkle resistant, especially cotton, and named allergic contact dermatitis as the health effect of greatest concern. The same report found most of the 180 items it tested met the strictest limits it reviewed (GAO-10-875). IARC classifies formaldehyde as carcinogenic to humans, based mainly on inhalation (IARC Monographs, Vol. 100F). These findings are about treated textiles in general, not this product.

Evidence level: strong

GOTS controls chemical inputs from farm to finished product

GOTS sets organic-fiber minimums, excludes formaldehyde and restricts dyes that release carcinogenic amines. Certification is checked through independent audits (GOTS). Its strength depends on those audits being done well.

Evidence level: strong

OEKO-TEX tests certified items for harmful substances

Certified items are tested against a list of more than 1,000 harmful substances, and certificates last one year (OEKO-TEX). For these sheets, that assurance applies only once the certificate is confirmed.

Evidence level: strong, once confirmed

Organic sheets and better sleep

Our review found no controlled study comparing sleep on organic and conventional cotton sheets. The case for organic cotton rests on what’s left out of growing and processing.

Evidence level: insufficient

Worth knowing

A small review base so far

The brand’s site shows 41 reviews averaging 4.9 out of 5 (checked October 2026). That’s encouraging, but too few to judge how the sheets hold up over years of washing.

Sateen sleeps differently than percale

Sateen is a denser, silkier weave. If you sleep hot or like a crisp feel, an organic percale set may suit you better. This is a comfort preference, not a safety issue.

Care affects fit

Cotton without anti-shrink treatments can shrink when dried on high heat. Follow the care label and tumble dry low.

Parent-brand recall, unrelated to sheets

In March 2023, Bedshe International recalled about 350,000 Bedsure electric heating blankets and pads because the controller could malfunction (CPSC). It doesn’t involve cotton bedding. We found no recall for Double Stitch sheets in the sources we checked.

No material chemical safety concern identified for this product in the sources we checked.
